Social & Labor Convergence Program

SLCP Verification in India

SLCP replaces repeated social audits with one verified assessment that a facility can share with every brand and buyer it works with. IQMC Certification is an approved Verifier Body under SLCP and carries out verifications across India with APSCA-registered auditors.

What SLCP verification is

The Social & Labor Convergence Program (SLCP) is a multi-stakeholder initiative committed to improving working conditions in global supply chains. Its tool is the Converged Assessment Framework (CAF): a single assessment, developed by SLCP signatories, that collects a comprehensive set of social and labor data from a facility and checks it against international labor standards and national labor law.

The CAF has three parts:

  1. Data collection. The facility completes a self-assessment covering a wide range of social and labor topics.
  2. Verification. An SLCP-approved verifier checks the answers using the SLCP verification methodology. This is the step IQMC performs.
  3. Sharing. The facility shares its verified data with many end users through the SLCP Gateway and connected platforms.

Why facilities in India use SLCP

A garment, textile or footwear facility supplying several brands is traditionally audited by each of them separately. That duplication costs money and management time without changing conditions on the floor. SLCP addresses it directly:

  • Removes duplicate social audits across the supply chain.
  • Improves the transparency and reliability of workplace data.
  • Helps the facility identify risks in its own labor conditions.
  • Supports compliance with Indian labor law and international labor standards.
  • Strengthens responsible sourcing and ethical business practice.
  • Lets brands and buyers rely on a single verified assessment. SLCP reports that more than 100 organisations accept SLCP data.

Key features of an SLCP verification

  • Standardized assessment framework: one globally recognised framework for assessing social and labor conditions in a facility.
  • Independent verification: trained and qualified verifiers check the data so it is impartial and accurate.
  • Data transparency: verified assessment data is shared with brands, buyers and stakeholders through the SLCP Gateway.
  • Worker engagement: worker interviews and workplace observations show real working conditions, not just paperwork.
  • Alignment with labor standards: the framework considers international labor principles and applicable national labor law.
  • Supply chain collaboration: brands and suppliers use a common system for assessing social and labor performance.

What the facility gains

  • Reduced audit fatigue: one verified assessment instead of separate audits from each brand.
  • Cost and time efficiency: standardised verification cuts the administrative effort and cost of repeated audits.
  • Supply chain transparency: stakeholders get a clearer picture of workplace conditions from verified data.
  • Credibility: third-party verification raises confidence among brands, customers and stakeholders.
  • Continuous improvement: assessment findings show where labor management systems and workplace practices can improve.
