Preparation checklist
How to Prepare for an SLCP Verification
Verification goes faster when the self-assessment is complete and the evidence behind each answer is ready. This checklist follows the stages of an IQMC verification: what to do before you request it, what the verifier checks on site, and what to do with the result.
Before you request verification
- Complete the self-assessment. The SLCP self-assessment is completed on an Active Accredited Host (currently Worldly), which connects to the SLCP Gateway. Answer every question as the facility actually operates, because each answer will be checked.
- Know what supports each answer. During data validation the verifier compares every response in the self-assessment with the available evidence and with what is observed on site. An answer without evidence behind it cannot be verified.
- Select IQMC as your Verifier Body on the platform, then submit the application form so IQMC can plan the scope, schedule and team with you.
Documents for the review
The on-site verification opens with a document review. Have the records that support your self-assessment answers available on the day, organised by topic. For a social and labor assessment these are typically:
- Employment records: contracts or appointment letters, age proof and personnel files.
- Wage and working-hour records: attendance, overtime, wage registers and payslips, statutory contribution records.
- Licences, registrations and permits that apply to the facility and its buildings.
- Health and safety records: fire safety, emergency drills, equipment inspection and incident records, training.
- Policies and procedures covering labor practice, grievance handling and management systems.
The exact set depends on how you answered the self-assessment. The verifier will confirm the scope at the planning step.
For the facility inspection
- Give the verification team access to every area covered by the assessment, including production floors, storage, canteens and any accommodation.
- Make sure the people responsible for production, human resources, health and safety and compliance are available during the visit.
- Do not stage the facility. Verification is based on what is observed, and the value of the report to your customers comes from it being an honest picture.
Worker interviews
Worker interviews and workplace observations are part of the SLCP method because they show real working conditions. Workers should be available to speak with the verifier, and should not be coached or told what to say. The interviews are used to validate the self-assessment, not to test individual workers.
After the verification
- The finalised verified data is uploaded to the SLCP platform for sharing with authorised stakeholders.
- Share the report with brands as a secure SLCP Gateway link, not as an email attachment. The link proves the report is authentic and unchanged after verification.
- Use the findings for continuous improvement of workplace practices and the social compliance system. See the full process.
